Match Details
NIKHIL: So, we are done here with the Coastal Riders winning the game with relative ease as they posted a total of 181 which proved to be a bit too much for the Tigers.
Coastal Riders started in a cautious way and ended up scoring 47 for a loss of 1 wicket. Gnaneshwar got going well and scored 52 runs supported brilliantly by Harsha Vardhan who also lit up the stadium in the first innings as he got 63 at a furious rate. The partnership between Gnaneshwar and Vardhan was the biggest one as they scored 89 runs together. Once Gnaneshwar got out, out-came Reddy who ended up with quick-fire 33 runs with a strike rate above 200. The partnership between Vardhan and Reddy of 56 runs was crisp and quick too. For the Tigers, no bowler was a standout as everyone chipped in with a wicket each apart from Rahul and Golamaru.
In reply to the target set by the Riders, the visitors started in a sensational manner scoring 61 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the powerplay as they lost Sumanth in the powerplay.
Sumanth started well and anchored the run-chase till he got injured while stretching for a run and he perished right after that on 24. He was helped well by Maheep Kumar and Praneeth who scored 28 and 30 respectively in a fast and furious manner as they tried to get closer to the run-chase playing a good hand. No batter was able to chip in with a crucial inning which could help them get past the total as everyone just fell after a smaller contribution to the score. Avinash tried his best in the later stages to get them over the line but he couldn't do it all on his own as he fell in the penultimate over at a score of 35. For the Coastal Riders Ashish got some crucial wickets of Ricky Bhui and Golamaru in the same over to break the backbone of this run-chase that looked like an uphill task for the Tigers. Stephen in the 19th over gave away just 3 runs taking a couple of wickets to ensure victory for the Riders. Reddy, Vijay, Tapaswi, and Varma chipped in with a wicket each too.
Chasing down 182 was never an easy task even for a side as good as the Tigers who has a strong batting line-up. Tigers lose this game falling short by 7 runs as the Riders get a much-needed victory for themselves out of this game.
