Chasing 149 for victory, St Lucia Kings got off to a poor start losing Charles for just 3. Dickwella (8) and Chase (1) departed soon after leaving the Kings at 55 for 3.
Faf Du Plessis played some good shots but was unlucky to be bowled by a ball that kept low for 41 off 26. The middle order crumbled and did not contribute much to the score. Hose with 18 and Joseph at the end scored unbeaten 28 as the St Lucia Kings were all-out for 115.
The Tallawahs' bowling was outstanding. Amir set the tone with 2 for 34 in his 3 overs. The spinners were brilliant tonight. Imad Wasim got 2 for 21 in his spell. Nabi and F Allen were terrific picking 3 each and set up an all-round performance to move to Qualifier 2 against Guyana.Earlier in the day, Tallawahs after putting into Bat 1st, started off in a dodgy manner as they lost 2 wickets scoring just 29 in the powerplay. King and Lewis departed with just 21 runs on the scorecard. Powell too departed soon with just 47 runs on the scoreboard. Brooks and Reifer then build up a partnership of 51 runs to rescue the Tallawahs from staring towards a horrible-looking scorecard. A late cameo from Nabi of 31* in 15 deliveries helped the Tallawahs to post a more than fighting total on such a track. Shamarh Brooks was the top scorer with 47 runs and take Tallawahs to 148 for 8 in their 20 overs.
For
the Kings, everyone was well-instructed on what to do on this track and they
executed the plans to perfection. Wiese was outstanding as he scalped 3 wickets
and Alzarri Joseph took a couple too. While Forde, Royal, and Williams picked
up a wicket each.
A Brilliant win for Jamaica Tallawahs.
