Deepak: That concludes the 9th CPL match between St Lucia Kings and Jamaica Tallawahs. Lucia Kings thumped Tallawahs by 2 wickets in this nail-biter contest. What a thrilling contest this was. After the initial setbacks, the Kings batted well and eventually registered their first win of this season.
Earlier Jamaica Tallawahs scored 163 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs and set the target of 164 runs for the Faf-led side. We witnessed a reeky inning from Raymon Reifer in the first inning of the match.
The Kings came out to chase down 164 runs but didn’t get the start they wanted as they lost 2 wickets in the 3rd over of the inning as Niroshan Dickwella departed scoring 10 runs off 8 balls and skipper Faf du Plessis goes for a golden duck on a beautiful delivery bowled by Amir which stunned Faf and cleaned bowled him.
Kings lost a couple of wickets in a quick interval and were struggling at 39 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Johnson Charles and Tim David started playing sensibly in the middle and built a partnership of 36 runs for the 5th wicket as Tim David departed scoring 20 runs off 14 balls. But Charles kept hitting big shots and completed his 14th CPL fifty with a cracking boundary.
An excellent inning from Johnson Charles comes to an end as he departed scoring 62 runs off 39 balls. In the end, David Wiese scored 20 runs off the 15 balls and sealed the match for his team.
On the other hand, Mohammad Amir picked up 3 wickets giving away 25 runs in his 4 overs quota. Imad Wasim and Raymon Reifer shared a couple of wickets each. Chris Green picked up one wicket.
Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.
