That’s it from Game 6 in the New Zealand T20I Tri-Series 2022 between Bangladesh and Pakistan. This is Vatsal Negandhi signing off alongside Ayan Chatterjee and our scorer/analyst Chandan Kumar Singh.

Stay tuned for more exciting fixtures across the globe, until then take care, and goodbye from us...!

Babar Azam (Pakistan Captain): "Definitely happy with the win going into the finals. The bowling was patchy and we didn't like it that way. I and Rizwan started well and Nawaz played an absolute blinder to win the game. Yes, happy to see Nawaz step up and finish things off in style. Yes, the areas to improve for me overall will be the fielding effort and the World Cup around the corner. We are confident and looking forward to taking this tomorrow against a quality side in hosts New Zealand. I think the aim will be to give 100% effort and hope for the best. It will be a close game."
Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh Captain): "I think it was a great game. We didn't get enough on the last over but loads of positives going ahead for all of us. I want to dwell on the positives. I think 170+ was good but could have got 10-15 runs more from where we were. The clarity of role that the management has is clear and I think I am happy with how I am performing for the team. The way we played till the last day has been good. We are on the right track and some improvements here and there will help us going forward."
Mohammad Rizwan (Player of the Match): "I think credit to their bowlers for making it tough for us. The aim was to start well and set the base for the chase. We did that and Nawaz came in and played a blinder to win the game for us. This is a team game some are good at rotating the strikes and some are big hitters. Nawaz's innings were the game changer. The chase was under control and then it became tight. The key was to keep wickets in hand and we did that well. Babar and I always do the calculations and we do it well. Yes, confident about the final. As you know, New Zealand at home is a tough team to beat. Hope to do well."
11:02 IST| Pakistan has chased down 174 set by Bangladesh and won the game in the 20th over with a ball to spare in a close match at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

Chasing 174 for victory, Pakistan got off to a terrific start courtesy of Rizwan and Babar. The duo added 101 in 12.3 overs and set up the chase nicely for Pakistan, Babar Azam was dismissed for 55 off 40. Haider Ali departed early for a duck. M Rizwan batted till the 19th over and got 69 off 56. M Nawaz coming in at 4 scored a match-winning 45* off 20 taking his team through to victory. An excellent chase by Pakistan as they win here by 7 wickets.

Bangladesh bowlers were good in patches but were sloppy in the field. Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 27 in his 4-over spell. S Islam and Taskin were economical and bowled decent. S Sarkar picked a wicket at the end. The bowlers overall failed to defend the total.

Earlier in the day, Opting to Bat 1st after winning the toss, Bangladesh got off to a poor start losing their openers inside the powerplay. L Das batting at no.3 joined hands with Bangladeshi skipper Shakib and the duo put on 88 for the 3rd wicket. L Das was dismissed for 69 off 42 against the run of play. Shakib played beautifully and scored 68 off 42 with 7 fours and 3 maximums. Afif in the end got 11 and took Bangladesh over 170. Excellent death bowling by Naseem Shah and M Wasim Jr kept Bangladesh at 173 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Pakistan bowling looked lackluster as they bowled poorly and were all over the place in the 1st of the innings. The pacers came back strongly at the end. Naseem Shah got 2 for 27 and was well supported by M Wasim Jr who picked up 2 for 33. M Nawaz got a solitary wicket of L Das but he was expensive tonight.

Terrific chase by Pakistan and this will give them confidence going into the big final of the Tri-Series tomorrow.

Stay Tuned for the Presentations.
