Kane Williamson, New Zealand skipper- It was a fantastic performance by the team. Outstanding contributions with the bat and backed up well with the ball and the field.. The guys stuck together, a good all-round performance. We want to give guys clear roles. Keep it nice and simple and ensure they belong. Nicholas Pooran, West Indies skipper- Just didn't show up today. Two wickets in the second over and then me in the third over, just couldn't recover after that. We just have two spinners in our squad and it is difficult to play both of them at the same time in the nets. Ideally we would like to play both. We felt we just had to stay in the game but we didn't start well. We need to accept and stay in the fight. We have a lot of learning to do as a young group. We are playing cricket games every two days, but I am happy that the guys are actually fighting it out. Some of them are injured but I am happy the guys want to fight on the field.
Glenn Philips, Player of the Match- Coming back to Sabina Park is amazing in front of a crowd was special. Credit to the West Indies boys upfront. They took the pace off the ball, it was difficult. As it became older, the pitcher became easier to bat. The pitch was very similar to the first T20I, but we went at our game plans better.[On Ramnaresh Sarwan] He was a massive influence on me. We have to upskill ourselves all the time.
A comfortable victory for New Zealand as they win by 90 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. The run-chase never took off and in the end, it was a bridge too far. Batting first after losing the toss, New Zealand scored a mammoth 215 in their allotted 20 overs and it was a mountain too steep to climb for West Indies.
