That is all we have from the commentary box. We had a humdinger today. Do join us again for another fascinating clash. Till then it's good bye and good night from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty), my fellow commentators Akshay Bhide and Anirudh Modi along with our scorer Paras Yadav.
Tim David is the Player of the Match- Yeah I think given the context it feels great we have won the game. It fel like that it was very good batting conditions so I was disappointed in missing out a few scoring opportunities. The batters got off to a great start. I think the wicket was maybe slightly two paced but i was very good wicket to bat. I think a batsman needed to bat through the innings. Its really nice. Tough when you are sitting pff the field and not seeing your teammates get over the line.
Rohit Sharma: "It was pretty tight towards the backend but very satisfying. It was something we were looking for all this while, luck had to turn at some stage. Credit to everyone for putting on a show. To be honest, we were 15 runs short. Credit to them they bowled pretty well, Tim David came on and batted really well. With the dew coming in, good pitch and lightning outfield we knew it was going to tough but we made it at the backend. It all depends on how the game is going, who is bowling well, spinners getting some grip, luckily for me I had a few resources with me so I could try different things and take the pace off the ball. They did the same and we realized it was not easy to hit and to defend that total was a great effort from the bowling unit. We thought of just looking at one game at a time because it's critical we play the opposition and play well. We know we didn't play our best cricket, even today. But a lot of credits to the bowlers to play the way we did. Couple of games he was under the pump but I know the quality he has but he has got the skill set that certain guys have and that's something we are trying to maintain in this group. We hope to give the guys the confidence and credit to Daniel Sams, defending 9 runs was not easy."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony.
Hardik Pandya: "Any given day we would take 9 runs in the last over. We were cruising with 83 needed in the last 10, I think the batters let us down. In T20 cricket you can't keep losing wickets, it kind of pushes you back an over or two. Its not a blame game, we have ended up on the winning side but you can't falter much about today. Not really, I think we played good cricket for 19.2 overs, one or two more hits would have made a huge difference while chasing. We shouldn't even have let it come to the 20th over, but wickets and run outs didn't help. At one point of time I thought they were going over 200, the bowlers did well to pull things back and compliments to them."
Daniel Sams: "What a crazy game. Obviously happy to get across the line. It was going back and forth throughout the game but happy to win it. Nine of six is one of those games where the odds are in the batter’s favor. I tried to execute the slower balls and was lucky to get just inside the tramline. I was just trying to stick to my best ball and very happy that it paid off. We didn’t have the start we wanted but after having eight losses, we took it as a mini-IPL and judge ourselves on the next five games. We are taking it one match at a time and we have nothing to lose here."

Arya- The target would have been a rather straightforward one for the Gujarat Titans with the batting line-up they had and with the pitch looking a belter for the batters. The opening duo of Shubhman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha got them off to a flying start as both played some delightful shots to lay the platform for the run-chase. Saha in particular, who has been a revelation in the powerplay continued his good run and Shubman Gill also joined in the act.

It would be heartening signs for the Gujarat Titans as Gill was struggling for runs but this knock will surely give hismelf and the team a lot of confidence. Gill slowly gained in confidence and struck the ball brilliantly. Both reached the half-centuries in almost the same time which showed that neither of them allowed the required rate to climb up and played the situation quite brilliantly.

It was Murugan Ashwin who turned the match on it’s head with double breaks in the 13th over. He dismissed both the set batters Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha in the same over to bring Mumbai Indians back into the game. Hardik Pandya came in at the fall of Gill’s wicket while Sai Sudharsan walked out when Saha was dismissed. Sudharsan started off well and so did Hardik Pandya. The Gujarat skipper was eventually run-out after scoring 24 of 14 deliveries.

Sai Sudharsan was unfortunately hit wicket of Kieron Pollard as he was way too early into the shot of a slower delivery and the bat clattered onto the stumps in his bat swing. The match was still for the Titans to lose with David Miller and Rahul Tewatia still in the crease. Jasprit Bumrah conceded 11 runs of the penultimate over and that was almost the game for GT. However, Daniel Sams bowled quite exceptionally to take his side over the finishing line.

Earlier in the day, it was the Mumbai Indians who raced off to 62/0 in the powerplay courtesy of some sublime strokeplay by their skipper Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma who was looking for runs desperately looked in mood and started off with some blazing shots of the bowling of Alzarri Joseph. Ishan Kishan started off slowly but then joined in the act as the duo made sure MI had the best powerplay of the season.

Rohit Sharma was eventually dismissed on 43 of 28 deliveries as he went for a reverse sweep and was trapped in front by Rashid Khan. There was a lull in the middle overs as the GT bowlers bounced back strongly and made sure MI didn’t get away in the middle overs. They lost wickets at regular intervals and until Tim David came in and smoked four sixes during his knock of 44 of 21 deliveries, Mumbai Indians were under severe pressure. It was David’s whirlwind knock which got them to the score of 177.

Arya- A sensational final over from Daniel Sams has given Mumbai Indians an unlikely victory. What an over that was. He executed the slower deliveries to perfection and none of the batters had an answer in front of his guile and variations. With 9 required of the final over, not many would have given MI a chance but Daniel Sams who was smoked for 35 of Pat Cummins not too long ago, redeemed himself by bowling a fantastic over, taking his side over the line by 5 runs.
Anirudh: SENSATIONAL FROM DANIEL SAMS! WHAT A BRILLIANT VICTORY FOR MUMBAI INDIANS!

19.6 D Sams to D Miller
0 Another sensational slower delivery from Daniel Sams and David Miller had no idea where the ball was coming from. Exceptional stuff from Daniel Sams. This was a high class over. Just two runs came from that over. Another exceptional slower delivery a shade outside off which dips and Miller couldn't make any contact. Way too early into the shot.
Akshay: 6 from 1 now. Can Miller do a Tewatia here? I can't watch this. Rohit having a long conversation with Sams. Third man, point, covers and fine leg inside the circle.
19.5 D Sams to D Miller
0 Gutsy delivery from Daniel Sams and that is a dot ball. A slower delivery well outside off. Just inside the tramline, Miller tries to go over covers but doesn't make any contact. 6 needed of the last delivery. That is nail-biting stuff.
Anirudh: DROPPED! What an eventful end to the match! A proper blockbuster thriller!
6 from 2 now.
19.4 D Sams to R Khan
1 In the air and it just eludes Daniel Sams. A slower delivery on the surface a shade outside off. Rashid Khan goes for the pull and ends up slicng that up in the air. Sams back peddles and tries to take that catch but just out of his reach and eventually a single taken.

Run Out Check. Tewatia is just short of the crease when the bails are dislodged. OUT it is and MI are back in the game.
