That is all we have from the commentary box today. Join us again tomorrow at 6:30 PM for another IPL clash. Till the next time, it's good-bye from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) along with my fellow commentators Akshay Bhide, Ovaise Shariff and our scorer/statistician Paras Yadav.
Faf du Plessis, RCB skipper and MOM- Tonight it was a little bit harder. The nature of the ground is so big. Towards the end it can get a bit tiring but a good way to get your fitness up. A few 96 97 hopefully the elusive century will come sooner than later I feel. It was crucial to stabilise the innings and in the end I know we are a very dangerous team. I was hungry for runs with the last three games not going great for me. Glad that the plans paid off. I was tiring a bit but I felt I could still hit the ball. It wasn't easy to hit the long boundaries with slower deliveries on the surface. It was difficult to score boundaries. I was tired but I was still hoping to get a few more away. Look I think the first few overs is the only few difference, Teams tend to lose wickets early. There was bounce today. They got us in trouble but we stuck out. The bowlers are on the top of their game and executing the plans and when you do that it's not easy to get them away. At the moment lot of points at the top and a few points in the bottom. It's gonna be a scramble towards the end. That is out of our control and I feel we are doing what is required. I think top 4 which is the case of consistently having one guy to bat through. The game has changed a lot but that has remained the same. One has to anchor the innings. Luckily we have Dinesh Karthik who has been in the form of his life and Shahbaz has played really well. They have hidden some of our flaws. It's being smart and having the right field. Harshal is a fantastic bowler and he is allowed to have a day off. He will have a very good season.

Arya: Earlier in the day, it was the LSG skipper KL Rahul who won the toss and following the trend put the oppositions in. Royal Challengers Bangalore had the worst possible start losing opener Anuj Rawat and former skipper Virat Kohli in the last two deliveries of the opening over of Dushmantha Chameera. Just when it looked the LSG opening bowlers will put some serious pressure on the RCB middle-order, skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell shared a quick little partnership which again put RCB back on track.

Maxwell targetted the powerplay but eventually perished in an attempt to play the reverse sweep over short third man. He scored a quick 11 balls 23. RCB also lost the wicket of Prabudessai not for many and the LSG bowlers looked to tighten the screws and strangle them in the last 10 overs. However, Du Plessis and Shahbaz Ahmed had some other ideas.

The duo forged together a brilliant partnership that helped RCB storm their way back into the game. Du Plessis was phenomenal with his strokeplay and after a quiet start to the innings, he kept growing in confidence and plundered the LSG attack all around the DY Patil Stadium. He was at his imperious best, especially in the final overs and just fell 4 short of a well-deserved century.

Dinesh Karthik came in at the fall of Shahbaz Ahmed’s wicket and smacked a straight six of Avesh Khan. However, Jason Holder bowled a fantastic final over, conceding just 4 runs which ensured that RCB’s hopes of reaching the 190 mark faded away. They eventually managed to score 181 in their allotted 20 overs. Dushmantha Chameera and Jason Holder were the pick of the LSG bowlers bagging a couple of wickets each.

Arya: The run-chase would have always been a difficult one for Lucknow Super Giants as the skipper KL Rahul suggested in the post-match presentation that they ended up conceding 10-15 runs more than the par score. KL Rahul started off with some impressive shots but lost his partner Quinton de Kock very early. Josh Hazlewood was at his best with the new ball as he shaped one away from the left-hander and got an outside edge straight to Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps.

Manish Pandey looked scratchy in the middle and eventually sliced one straight to the short square leg fielder as Hazlewood had his second wicket. KL Rahul batted sensibly scoring 30 of 24 deliveries before a magical review taken by Faf du Plessis brought about his downfall. Hardly anyone realised that Rahul had got a faintest of feathers to that. Even Karthik didn’t know but it was a masterstroke to for the review and replays showed there was a clear spike when the ball was next to the glove.

It was a nice little partnership between Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda who kept them in the game. Krunal Pandya in particular got off to a sensational start and struck some lusty blows. Hooda manoeuvred along the field and looked in good touch. However, his dismissal at a crucial juncture put the brakes on LSG. They kept losing their way after the loss of Krunal Pandya’s wicket.

Still, with the likes of Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder around, LSG would have still given them a chance. However, Stoinis’ dismissal in the penultimate over was the final nail in the coffin for them as it was such an uphill task from thereon. Eventually, they fell well short by 18 runs. RCB climbed to the 2nd spot in the points table behind Gujarat Titans.

Josh Hazlewood: "It is always challenging in the death overs and I was trying to use the bigger side out of the boundary. I tried to turn around and get back to the mark quickly (On the wide not being called by the umpire). I’m really enjoying bowling here. The bounce at Wankhede is true but here at DY, there is extra bounce as well as some movement with the new ball. We have a good bowling attack and we have all the bases covered. So really enjoying my time here."

KL Rahul | Losing Skipper: "I think we have a really good team, really happy with how the boys are playing. I think we started really well after getting two wickets in the first over, to give away 50 in the Powerplay, we should have done better. 180 on that pitch was 15 or 20 runs extra that we gave away. The pitch was sticky. We needed one big partnership - we saw what Faf did for RCB - I think we needed one batter in the top three or four to play long innings and for other batters to play around with him but we couldn't get that done. When we are up we'll have to try squeezing the opponents to a below-par score, and making it easier for our batters.  We have let teams score a lot in the death overs which has taken the game away from us."
Arya: A comprehensive victory in the end for the Royal Challengers Bangalore riding on a brilliant knock from Faf du Plessis and a wonderful spell of fast bowling by Josh Hazlewood. LSG played well in patches when Krunal Pandya looked in good touch. However the target proved to way too much in the end as they eventually fell short by 18 runs.
