That is all we have from the 6th match of Tata IPL 15. We have had a humdinger today. Do join us tomorrow for another exciting clash between Lucknow Super Giants and the Chennai Super Kings. Till then it's ta-ta and good-night from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) and my fellow commentators Badal Parek and Anirudh Modi.
Wanindu Hasaranga | Player of the match: "That's a crucial situation, I tried my best. Unfortunately couldn't do it with the bat but the team did it. I am really happy with my bowling performance. My favourite footballer is Neymar Jr. and that celebration is inspired by him. When I go out to the middle, I don't feel pressure, I just go out and have fun. That is why I guess I am successful."
Faf du Plessis- Yeah very happy at the halfway stage. Its a game of close margins. Beginning of the team and we need to settle the team and get the competition up and running. During a low scoring game, it is important to not take it too deep. I though the first night the ball swung more but today there was more seam and bounce. Most of the wickets was due to bounce. Most of the cross-batted shots went high up; Nice to see these sort of pitches. two three days ago it was 200 and today it is 130 and we still had a great game. Ideal would. Should have been a little bit convincing but a win is a win. Just that experience of DK (Dinesh Karthik) at the end. Cool calm head. We always felt like if we can keep wickets in hand that was going to be the key. Just to have that calmness. Even towards the end. He is as close to MS Dhoni in the last five overs and it's very good to get his experience. I rely a lot on other people. We have such great leaders and breains in our team and it will be foolish to not use them. I try to use the filter and take the decisions. I feel very lucky to have the leaders in the group helping me out.
Akash Deep gets the Swiggy Instamart fastest delivery of the match award.
Wanindu Hasaranga is also the Upstox Most Valuable Asset of the Match.
Umesh Yadav is the Cred Powerplayer of the match for his spell of 2/11 in the powerplay.
Andre Russell bags the Unacademy Let's Crack it Sixes Award for his three sixes.
Wanindu Hasaranga is the Dream11 Game Changer of the Match for scoring 129 fantasy points.
Umesh Yadav is the Super Striker of the Match. He is known more for his bowling but it was his batting which took KKR to some sort of semblance of stability.
Time for the post match presentation.
Shahbaz Ahmed: "It was great to go out there a score a few runs and help the team win this match. The plan was simple just take it deep and target their fifth bowler in Russell and Venky Iyer. They wanted me to take it as deep as possible and lucky we did manage to take it deep and win it. The pitch was a touch more green today than it was in the previous match and it was helping the seamers. The new ball was doing a lot but once the ball got wet it became a lot easier."
Shreyas Iyer | KKR Captain: "Thank you so much first of all. I found this game exciting, because before the second innings I told the boys it does not matter we defend it or not, but the way we show character is important and is going to help us in the next game. It was really tough in that moment, I wanted to get my best bowlers and take wickets but it could not work out well. In the end I needed to back them but it is really important they gain confidence and this was one of the best games to do that. We came in and we spoke about the wicket, it looked dicey, variable and the bounce was odd. We wanted to get off to a good start but the execution was poor. But we would come out with the same mindset again and see that we get good momentum as early on as possible. Hasaranga bowled really well, he got off to a good start with my wicket and he was getting a bit of help on this wicket, so yeah, congratulations to him."
Arya: Earlier in the day it was the RCB skipper Faf du Plessis who won the toss and without any hesitation put KKR in. It wasn’t the greatest of starts for KKR as they lost Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane in the powerplay with the score reading 32/2. Nitish Rana started off with a six and a four but was dismissed on the 5th delivery by Akash Deep. From there on it was Wanindu Hasaranga who spun a web around the KKR batters and had them on the mat.

Narine got a few away while Sam Billings also looked in good touch but neither of them could take the innings deep with both falling in quick succession of Hasaranga. He was all over KKR at that moment and dismissed Sheldon Jackson's very first ball with a brilliant googly. Andre Russell struck three massive sixes but was dismissed by Harshal Patel as the pressure of not scoring runs mounted. Harshal bowled two maidens on a trot to begin with a wicket each in two overs.

It was No 10 Umesh Yadav and No 11 Varun Chakravarthy who took KKR to some sort of stability getting their side to 129. Both struck important boundaries and took crucial singles to take KKR to some respectability. The bowlers fought hard but in the end, RCB held their nerves and went on to win by 3 wickets.

Arya: Kolkata Knight Riders needed early wickets to make a match out of this and buoy the new bowling pair of Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee made the ball talk and prized out three top-order batsmen inside the 4th over with RCB reeling at 17/3. Anuj Rawat was dismissed by a snorter from Umesh Yadav, while Faf was squared up by a beautiful delivery by Tim Southee.

Virat Kohli fell soon after as Umesh Yadav shaped one away from a length outside off and Kohlin ended up nicking that to Sheldon Jackson. From there on it was Sherfane Rutherford and David Willey who stabilised the innings with some sensible batting. They both rotated the strike along and despite not striking too many boundaries, they managed to control the game in the middle overs.

It was Sunil Narine who bagged the prized wicket of David Willey when he chipped one top spinner which stopped on the surface straight to the midwicket fielder. It was sensible batting from Rutherford while Shahbaz Ahmed who was promoted up the order ahead of Dinesh Karthik took charge of the big shots. He clobbered Andre Russell for a couple of sixes to bring the equation down and then smoked Varun Chakravarthy for a six in the 16th over to take the game deep.

However, he was dismissed in the very next delivery with RCB needing 28 of the last 4 overs. Sunil Narine bowled the 17th over and conceded just 5 runs but the match turned on it’s head in the Tim Southee over where he bagged 2 wickets to put KKR in a good position.

With 17 needed of 2 overs, it was Venkatesh Iyer who was given the ball and he bowled well but conceded two boundaries to make it seven from the final over. Dinesh Karthik survived a run-out chance and from there on it was RCB in the final over.

Karthik smoked Russell for a maximum and a boundary to seal the deal for RCB. They get off the mark in the tournament and will look to win a few more on a trot after this hard-fought victory.

Arya: What a match we had and at the end of a low-scoring thriller, it is Royal Challengers Bangalore who has prevailed in a nail-biting thriller. Dinesh Karthik was just good enough to see his side through with a six and a boundary in the final over of Andre Russell. A low-scoring match but going all the way down to the wire and KKR can take heart from the fact that they still made a match out of a pretty below-par score in the first innings.
19.2 A Russell to D Karthik
4 Four!!! DK finish it off in style with a straight drive. DK presents the full face of the bat and drives it past the bowler to get it done and win it for RCB with 3 wickets remaining.
19.1 A Russell to D Karthik
6 Six!!! DK you beauty, the modern finisher has done it for RCB. He has levelled it up for RCB. Short pitch delivery angling in towards the helmet of the batter who goes back and pulls it over deep square leg for a maximum.
Badal: Patel might have faced a few dot ball here but the two boundaries keep RCB very much in the contest with 7 runs needed off the 6 balls.
