Thanks for joining us for the live coverage of the 1st ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. This was Badal Pareek alongside my co-commentators Ovaise, Saurabh Saket and our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Stay tuned as we bring you updates from all across the globe, until then stay tuned and stay safe.
Tamim Iqbal: Honestly, I did not believe we could win after 45/6. But I'm very proud and happy for the two for their incredible innings. Afghanistan have a brilliant attack but Mehidy and Afif did well. Hopefully, this is a start for them and they have many more amazing performances.
Mehidy Hasan | Player of the match: (Speaking in Bengali): "I was very confident that I and Hossain could do this. We had a talk in the middle that if we approach this ball by ball we could do it. Hossain has played an outstanding knock here. To be honest I was a bit nervous at the start but the manner in which he was batting gave me confidence that we could chase this down."
Hashmatullah Shahidi | Losing Captain: "We had a good start, their batsmen played very well, they did not give us any chance. All the credit goes to their batters. We were at least 30 runs short, Farooqi bowled well at the top, but I will give credit to their batsmen. It is a part of the game and we have two more games, we will try to come back stronger."
Time for the post-match presentation here.
Badal: A day that will go down in the history of Bangladesh cricket as Mehidy Hasan and Afif Hossain put up an unbeaten 184 run partnership for the 7th wicket to win this encounter by 4 wickets against Afghanistan after being 45-6.

Earlier in the day Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first. Gurbaz and Zadran walked out to open the innings for the Afghans. Things didn't really go according to the plan for them as they lost Gurbaz in the third over.

Rahmat walked out to the middle and had a short partnership with Zadran as they went past the powerplay without losing any more wickets. In the 14th over of the match, Shoriful Islam dismissed Zadran. They had numerous partnerships out there in the middle but none of them was really match-defining.

Najibullah was the top scorer for the Afghanistan batter as he managed to score 67 runs off 84 balls. Many Afghan batters managed to get in but they failed to capitalise on it and score a big one. Najibullah stood tall at one end but he kept running out of partners and at last, was dismissed in the 49th over.

The Bangladeshi bowling unit went past the Afghan lower order in a flash and they ended up getting bowled out for 215. The Fizz, Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 35 runs in his 9.1 overs.

Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das walked out to the middle for Bangladesh. They were sent back to the pavilion in no time. Fazalhaq Farooqi went past the top order of Bangladesh in a flash and they were down to 18-4 after 5 overs. The left-arm pacer caused havoc out there in the middle with his ability to bring the ball back in towards the right-handers.

Mujeeb got rid of Shakib Al Hasan and Rashid added salt to the wounds by dismissing Mahmudullah Riyad. Bangladesh were 45-6 after 11.2 overs. In walked Mehidy Hasan to accompany Hossain who then went on to stitch a historic partnership. Both of them played simple basic cricket.

It was risk-free cricket by the two and they managed to just work around the Afghan bowlers. Their partnership was worth over 180 runs. It is the biggest partnership for the 7th wicket in the history of the Bangladesh cricket team. Hossain and Hasan both remained not out on 93 and 81 respectively to take their team to a 4 wicket victory.
48.5 G Naib to A Hossain
4 Short and slow, Hossain dismisses it from his presence. Pull its hand wide of deep mid wicket and this was the winning shot. Brilliant Brilliant Partnership! They were down out out when these two got together and they have done the impossible in the match.
48.4 G Naib to A Hossain
0 Dot ball. Full and slow on the stumps. Hossain defends it back to the bowler with a straight bat.
48.3 G Naib to A Hossain
2 Short and wide, open the face of the bat and guides the ball uppishly wide of third man for a couple.
48.2 G Naib to M Hasan
1 Full and straight on the stumps, drives it down the ground for a single toward long on.
48.1 G Naib to M Hasan
0 Full and outside off, plays it to point and tries to run for a quick single, sent back by Hossain.
