Match Details
Ovaise: Apart from the first four overs where Pakistan picked the last three Australian wickets, it was back to the usual story of bat dominating ball throughout this 5th day. Australia could not add much to their overnight total, just added 12 runs as Nauman Ali took his career-best figures of 6 wickets for 107 in his 38 overs.
The two Pakistan openers came out to bat and were very watchful at the beginning and played very defensively which buried any chances of a result in this match. The pair played throughout the first innings without losing a wicket.
A similar story was
seen in the second session where Imam and Shafique continued in the same
fashion stitching up a mammoth opening partnership, The pair looked untroubled
for most parts and kept out everything bowled at them by the Australian
bowlers.
This Test was always heading only in one direction and that was a
draw. The Australian bowlers toiled hard on a sunny day but couldnât trouble
the openers one bit. The pitch looked flat as a road, and runs making became
easier towards the end of the 2nd session.
Post the tea, Imam and
Shafique both got their respective centuries. Australia tried everything from
pace, to spin, to part-time spin, nothing worked against these two. Shafique got to
his century first and he looks like a promising young player for Pakistan in
the coming days. Imam looked like he continued from where he had left in the
first innings.
Test cricket will not
survive if we end up having more matching like these, It will be interesting to
see what the match-referee says about this âTerrible Pitchâ, Should definitely
come under the category of âPoorâ, there was hardly anything in it for the
bowler and if they continue playing on this for the next two days, there still
wonât be any result.
Aleem Dar finally ended
the misery of the Australian bowler by calling it stumps. Pakistan ended with 252-0. The match finally ended in a boring DRAW, only 14 wickets were taken throughout this test match which is some sort of a record I presume.
