Beth Mooney is the player of the match!
She topped scored in the first innings, took two catches, effected two run outs in the main overs and also with two more in the super over. She finished the job with two towering sixes on the first two balls of the super over to win the match for Perth Scorchers!
What a game we had! The Scorchers won the toss and elected to bat first and put up a total of 121 for 5 in the 20 overs. Wicketkeeper Beth Mooney top scored with 36 off 33 deliveries whereas Amanda-Jade Wellington was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 12 in the four overs.
In reply, the Adelaide Strikers kept losing wickets at regular intervals and needed nine off the final over but Marizanne Kapp kept calm and defended the total as the match was decided in the super over. Katie Mack scored 24 at the top and wicketkeeper McPharlin was unbeaten on 21 but failed to chase the total.
Lilly Mills chipped in with 2 wickets and Kapp, Lisa Griffith, Taneale Peschel and Heather Graham chipped in with one wicket each.
Kapp was brilliant with the ball in the super over as well and conceded only nine runs without a conceding any boundary. The target was good enough for Sophie Devine who finished the match off on the first two deliveries of the super over with two mighty sixes!
0.2 M Schutt to S Devine
6 SIX MORE! AND THAT'S THAT! Sophie Devine making it look easy yet again. Fuller length by Schutt, Devine shuffles across and hoiks it big over the stands at mid-wicket. Cracker of a game ended in style by the Strikers skipper!
0.1 M Schutt to S Devine
6 BANG! SIX RUNS! And with that, the pressure comes down significantly. The ball was in the slot by Schutt and Sophie Devine slices it over the fielder at long-off for a maximum.
2+W Fuller on off stump, Niekerk drives it over midoff and brilliant stop there by long on fielder creates harakiri as they were looking for 3rd run, Wolvaardt found herself long way away
0.3 M Kapp to Niekerk
2 Full length on pads, Niekerk worked it on leg side for another couple of runs
