A clinical performance by this Indian batting unit in this warm up game against England. They were asked to chase down a total of 189 runs - against a lethal English bowling group - but they did this task with some ease. A huge momentum and confidence boasting win for India, before heading into the Super 12 stage of this T20 World Cup.
India sent KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan as openers to test the batters, both of them responded mightily well. KL took the attack in the Powerplay overs, using his technically backed strokes. Kishan, on the other hand, too attacked but was more about rotating the strike up front. The Indian openers stemmed a stand of 82 runs - inside nine overs - as Rahul scored a fifty off just 24 deliveries, but got out immediately.
Then came Kohli to assist young Ishan in the task, however, the Indian skipper had a rare failure as he got removed by Livingstone. The opening southpaw then had another explosive southpaw to partner with. The two southpaws played their brand of cricket and toyed with the English bowlers and the field as well. Ishan scored an applauding 70* off 46, before he was asked to retire. Apart from Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav also had a rare failure. But the finishing touches were provided by the Indian finishers, i.e Pant and Pandya, helping India achieve the target with an over to spare.
