So that's all from the commentary box. A big thank you for joining us during the course of the match. Like always it was a pleasure bringing all the live commentary and updates from the match. Stay tuned for the next encounter which will start from 8: 30 pm between the Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. So till then bubbyee from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and my fellow mates Somya Kapoor and Karthik Raj.
Mohammad Rizwan, winning captain and Man of the Match: "My hard work and bravery works thanks to Allah. The way our bowlers Sohail and Dahani and Qadir started, that was great. Our lack of good performances in the death bowling was improved and so we restricted them. In any match, if you win you can't get relaxed after that. Previously we were losing despite dominating most of the match. This game we managed to carry the momentum. I don't believe in toss dictating match results and chasing teams winning. If you bowl well at the death, get the yorkers in, then chasing teams can't score."
Mohammad Rizwan gets the Hanif Mohammad Cap for being the leading run scorer in the tournament so far. He signs the match ball and is also the HBL Player of the Match.
Shahnawaz Khan picks up the PCB Moment of the Match Trophy.
Sohail Akhtar | LQ captain: We were 15-20 runs short and then we fielded poorly as well. We are looking at spin options and that could strengthen our bowling in the next few matches. It looked like the wicket would help the fast bowlers when we saw it at first.
Shoaib Maqsood, Man of the Moment: Credit must go to Rizwan, who took the game away in the powerplay. When I came on to bat I wasn't middling the ball well. But he was playing well so I could take my time. You have to spend 15-20 balls on this wicket before you go for your shots. The pitch was quite similar in the first innings, but given that 196 was chased down a couple of nights ago, the teams would rely on chasing.
Arya: The architect of the chase was Multan Sultans' skipper Mohammad Rizwan who made batting look ridiculously easy. He timed everything to perfection and never really allowed the pressure to climb on the Sultans despite losing two wickets around him early on. Chris Lynn was castled by a pearler from Shaheen Afridi while Samit Patel accounted for James Vince. From there on it was the partnership between Rizwan and Sohail Maqsood which turned the game on its head and the Qalandars couldn't find any ways to claw their way back into the game. Rizwan kept smashing the bowlers all around the park and he oozed class and confidence. He was dismissed by Shaheen Afridi during the fag end of the match but by then the match was almost done and dusted. Maqsood also remained unbeaten and raced his way to a half-century as the Sultans romped home by 7 wickets and with 22 deliveries to spare.
Arya: Earlier in the day it was Multan Sultans who won the toss and opted to field. It wasn't the greatest of starts for the Lahore Qalandars as they lost Sohail Akhtar and Fakhar Zaman in quick succession which never really allowed the Qalandars to go after the bowlers in the powerplay. However, Mohammad Hafeez continued his rich vein of form and kept tonking the Sultans' bowlers all round the park. It was a disdainful knock from the veteran cricketer who smashed a 35 balls 60 which was studded with 3 fours and 5 sixes. He shared a 89 runs partnership with Joe Denly and got Qalandars back in the game. He toyed with the bowlers en route to his special knock but the Sultans' bowlers made a sensational comeback in the death overs restricting them to just 156 in their allotted 20 overs.
Arya: That's the end of the encounter with 22 balls left. This has been a dominating performance from the Multan Sultans. Finally, Sultans open their account in the tournament after back to back defeats in the first two encounters.
