So that's it from us. Do join us for the double header tomorrow. Hope we have a cracker of a weekend. Tata from me, Akshay Bhide and my colleague Arjun Bhalla. Bye Bye.
Nathan Coulter-Nile | MoM: It was nice to win, though I was a little nervous when we start batting, and I was surprised we chose to bowl. It wasn't a 124 wicket but it was harder to score than we thought, I had no idea what the plans were, just did what I was told. Nice to get the points, any points but especially the bonus point for being ahead.
Nathan Coulter-Nile is awarded Man of the Match award for his bowling figures of 3.5-0-10-4 and two run-outs.
Earlier in the day, Maxwell won the toss and put Heat in to bat. They did pretty well in the powerplay as the Heat openers just couldn’t get going. Eventually both the openers departed. Chris Lynn arrived and Maxwell brought on his spinners to bowl to him. The Heat batsmen just couldn’t get going and Dan Lawrence departed courtesy of fielding brilliance from Cartwright. Lynn and Cooper tried building a partnership but Lynn was dismissed by Coulter-Nile in the 12th over for 20. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals. There was no healthy contribution from the lower order and they were eventually bundled out for 125. Coulter-Nile was the pick of the bowlers for Stars picking 4 wickets giving away only 10 runs.
The chase for the Stars started on a worst note as Stoinis departed for nought on the second ball of the innings. Andre Fletcher was looking good but threw his wicket in the 4th over. And suddenly Heat were back in the game. Dunk too departed in the 7th over. Skipper Maxwell joined Cartwright and stitched a very good partnership. Both of them found regular boundaries and ensured that the momentum shifted towards them. They put 75 between them. Maxwell departed when the Stars needed 17 but Cartwright was the main stay at the wicket and ensured there were no hiccups in the end.
A clinical performance by the Stars in their opening game and they have thumped Heat. Hilton Cartwright was brilliant with the bat holding the innings very well and remaining unbeaten in the end carrying his team across the line. Maxwell too was good with the bat as he alongwith Cartwright put a match-winning partnership that ruled Heat out of the game.
17.1 Simon Milenko to Nick Larkin
4 FOUR!!! Good way to finish the match. Banged in short, Larkin pulls this in front of square for a boundary. And Stars are off to a winning start
