Player Bio

A classy top-order batsman and more than a handy leggie, Aqib Ilyas is a professional Omani cricketer who has been a consistent performer for the middle-eastern country since his T20 debut back in November 2015. 

After his List A debut in February 2018, a year later he was promoted to the vice-captain role in September 2019 and was named as the player to watch in Oman’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers.  With Oman gaining the ODI status in 2019, Aqib made his ODI debut against Namibia on April 27th, 2019.

The Sialkot-born batter became the first cricketer from Oman to score a century in international cricket, scoring an unbeaten 109 runs against Nepal. He followed up his masterclass with another one against the US, striking 105 runs, Aqib scored two consecutive centuries in as many matches to etch his name in history books.
