Player Bio

James McCollum is a talented right-handed opening batsman who also bowls effective seam deliveries when required to do so. McCollum plays as a batting all-rounder for Ireland national cricket team.

He made his first-class debut for Durham playing against Gloucestershire in the 2017 Marylebone Cricket Club University Fixtures.

McCollum maintained an average of over 55 in his first 19 domestic innings, including a couple of hundred and six fifties to his name.

The all-rounder made his List-A debut for Northern Knights in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup. In the following season, he was the leading run-scorer for Knights, amassing 442 runs in just four matches.

Good performances in the domestic circuit earned him an opportunity to make his Ireland debut. The Craigavon-born made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in 2019. Ireland born had a nightmarish start to his ODI career, getting dismissed for a first-ball duck.

He was a surprise inclusion in Ireland's squad for the Test series against Afghanistan in 2019.

In January 2020, the Armagh-based cricketer was one of the nineteen players to be awarded the central contract from Cricket Ireland.

A talented all-rounder who has so far failed to make a mark at the international level, McCollum has all the tools necessary to be a successful cricketer for Ireland. He lacks a bit of temperament and that has so far cost him big time against quality oppositions.
