Player Bio

Lorcan Tucker is a young well-built hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman who is safe as a bank behind the stumps. Hailing from Dublin, Tucker represents Ireland internationally and possesses the potential to become one of the finest keeper-batsmen in the coming future.

Tucker has represented Ireland in the 2016 U-19 World Cup and straight after Junior World Cup, the keeper was selected to don Ireland colors in the shortest format. He made his T20I debut against Hong Kong in September 2016. A year later, the Dublin-born was picked by Leinster Lightning for the 2017 Inter-Provincial Cup to make his First-Class debut.

The keeper-batsman has been representing Ireland in T20Is since 2016, however, he had to wait until 2019 to feature in the 50-over format. Tucker made his ODI debut against England in Dublin, and later that year, he scored his maiden half-century against Zimbabwe.

In 2019, Tucker earned his maiden Test call up for the one-off Test against England, unfortunately, couldn’t make his debut. Later in September, he played a vital role in the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

A year later, Tucker toured West Indies and then England for the ODI series. Later, he was selected to play the limited-overs series against UAE and Afghanistan in the sub-continent in early 2021. The promising batter played a crucial knock of 83 runs in a chase of 288 runs, where Ireland eventually lost by 16 runs.

With age on his side, Tucker is likely to become a strong contender for the national side if he improves his consistency in terms of batting performances. The stumper is also the front runner to take the gloves when Gary Wilson hangs up his boots.
