Player Bio

Priya Punia is a right-handed batswoman who plays for the Indian Cricket team and has played for Delhi in the domestic competitions.

She caught the attention of the selectors in the 2015 season, where Punia scored a 95 for the North Zone against the West, followed by a brilliant knock of 59 off just 42 balls for India A against the touring New Zealand A squad. She was quickly fast tracked but the opportunities were not there yet.

Finally after years of hard work, Punia got her maiden international call-up for the 2019 T20I series against New Zealand. It was a disappointing debut as the batswoman was dismissed for 4 runs.

In the same year, Punia got one more chance to showcase her worth in the ODI series against South Africa, and this time she grabbed her chance with both hands and scored an unbeaten 75 in a run chase of 165. That knock announced the arrival of Punia at the international stage.

She was drafted in the Supernovas squad for the Women’s T20I challenge tournament, and in the 2020 edition of the tournament, Punia played some gutsy knocks to guide the Supernovas into the finals, however, they lost the final against a star studded Trailblazers squad.

In 2020, Punia decided to switch her alliance from Delhi to Rajasthan, and for the first time in her career, she went on to play for her home team professionally.

Touted as the future of Indian cricket, Punia has come a long way in her cricketing journey. She has all the shots in the books and a few tweaks in her technique will do wonders for her and for the Indian cricket.
