Player Bio

Hayley Jensen is a New Zealand women’s cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for the team. Born in Christchurch, she currently plays for the ACT Meteors and Melbourne Renegades.

She made her professional debut playing for Canterbury Magicians in the 2009/10 season. Jensen was impressive in her first few seasons which led to her maiden ODI call-up in the year 2014. She took a solitary wicket in the match and was not required to bat as New Zealand Women thrashed the West Indies Women team.

Following the ODI leg of the series, Jensen was also included in the T20I squad, and she made a lasting impression with the ball in hand, picking up 2 crucial wickets and just giving 11 runs in a low-scoring affair against the Windies.

In June 2016, the all-rounder was banned from cricket for six months for betting on the first men’s Test match between New Zealand and Australia.

Jensen was included in the New Zealand squad for the 2018 Women’s World T20 held in West Indies. She had a disappointing start to the tournament, going away for 28 runs in 2 overs against Indian Women's team. Christchurch born had an average tournament and New Zealand were eliminated in the group stage itself.

After missing out on the 2017/18 Women’s Big Bash League, Jensen signed with Hobart Hurricanes for the sixth edition of the WBBL. The dynamic all-rounder had previously played for Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers in the WBBL previous editions.

In January 2020, she was named for the squad for the 2020 Women’s T20I World Cup. Jensen was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with seven dismissals in four matches.

One of the best all-rounders in Women’s cricket, Jensen has been a stalwart for New Zealand Women over the last 7 years. Still in her prime, Jensen has a long road ahead of her and she will look to continue her good form in the shorter formats of the game.
