Player Bio

Frances Mackay is a top-order batswoman and more than handy right-arm offie who plays professional cricket for the New Zealand Women’s team and for Canterbury Women.

At just 20 years of age, she made her WODI debut against Australia on June 14th, 2011. She started off slowly and played a decent innings of 37 in a horrific loss against the Aussies. She played a match-winning knock of 51 against Ireland Women in a group match of Women’s World T20 in 2014.

Dropped after a disappointing Women’s World T20 championship, she bounced back after 5 years into the New Zealand T20 squad alongside Caitlin Gurrey. Mackay and Gurrey were selected following their chart-topping show at the 2018-19 Super Smash. Allrounder Mackay struck two centuries and a 97 for Canterbury women to help her way in the international squad.

In the recently concluded Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, Mackay was a prominent figure in leading the Canterbury side to the championship. Amy Satterthwaite along with her skipper Frances Mackay put on a winning show with 73 and 94 unbeaten respectively against Auckland to win the final.
