Player Bio

The future torchbearer of the Sri Lanka Women’s team, Harshitha Madavi is a power-hitter who has an appetite for run-making that is accompanied by the natural flair of a left-hander.

Harshitha made her T20I debut against Ireland in March 2016, followed by her ODI debut against Australia the same year. Having made her debut in 2016, it is only in the last 12 months that Madavi has been given an extended run in the line-up. The southpaw has since collected 318 runs across all formats and showed much promise in the ODI series against the mighty Aussies on their soil in the latter parts of 2019.

Having displayed great composure with the bat through the dismal tour of Australia, the Colombo-born left-hander was named as the skipper of the U-23 Sri Lankan team for the Emerging Asia Cup in October 2019. She posted two half-centuries and smashed a splendid 106 unbeaten off 47 balls against the Maldives to prove her significance as a hard-hitter.

Earmarked as the next captain to take over Chamari Atapattu, the youngster has to prove herself on the international stages as a durable player for the future to take Sri Lanka women’s cricket forward.
