Player Bio

The only left-hander in the Bangladesh Women’s team, Murshida Khatun is the youngest member of the squad who built her skill set up through years of cricket training in her local school in order to earn her selection in the national team.

Murshida’s ODI debut came in 2018, aged just 18 against South Africa and her T20I debut came a few weeks later against the same opponent. The left-handed opener failed to capitalize on the opportunity presented to her and was dismissed on just 1 run in both her debuts.

With only 15 appearances for the national side, the southpaw recorded her highest scores in both formats in 2019 which saw the youngster included in the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup squad. Her 26 balls 30 against India in the T20 World Cup offered a glimpse of solidity and composure.

Idolising Smriti Mandhana, Murshida found someone to model her game on. She has a potent cover drive in a largely off-side dominant region of strokes and has evolved into a reliable versatile opener for the Bangladeshi Tigresses.
