Player Bio

Hailing from Pune, Devika Purnendu Vaidya is an all-rounder who made her debut for India Women in 2014 against South Africa Women.

In 2017, the southpaw suffered an injury, and later, she was diagnosed with chikungunya affliction. Her last One-Day International for India was in 2018, and she had only played one Twenty20 International in 2014.

The 25-year-old did not give up on her dream. Her exceptional performance in the 2022 Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy in Raipur caught the attention of the selectors. The youngster’s brilliant knock of 41 not out off 27 balls guided her side to victory with a ball to spare.

Vaidya's eight-year wait to represent India in T20 internationals was finally over when chief selector Neetu David noticed her outstanding effort and brought back to the Indian team for the T20I series against Australia. In the second match of the series against Australia at Navi Mumbai's D.Y. Patil Stadium, the all-rounder smashed a boundary off the last ball and helped India tie the match. India won the Super Over in front of more than 45,000 excited fans.

The Leggie's outstanding performances have earned her a place in India Women's team for the Women’s World Cup 2023. The Pune-born left everyone stunned when UP Warriorz (UPW) broke the bank and secured her services for a whopping INR 1.4 crore in the inaugural Women's Premier League auction in February 2023.
