Player Bio

An aggressive bowler who is always looking for wickets, Khadija Tul-Kubra is one of the best spinners in the Bangladesh women’s team. Her knack for getting important breakthroughs always fires up the team and her eagerness towards cricket has always been inspiring.

Started her career as a pace bowler, her coach advised Khadija to shift to off-spin, a fortuitous decision because for much of her career she has been Bangladesh's best spinner. The Bogra-born spinner played in the Rajasahi divisional squad in 2009 and joined Dhaka Abahani at the end of 2010 in search of better opportunities.

Khadija made her debut at the age of 16 against Ireland on November 26th, 2011, in Bangladesh’s first international game after being granted ODI status, and she has seen the rise of women’s cricket in the country from the outset.

Currently sitting as the joint highest ODI wicket-taker alongside Rumani Ahmed for her country, she has taken 42 wickets in 30 matches. This included the best ODI bowling figures for a Bangladesh woman 6/20 in 2018 against Pakistan returning from a five-year break from the 50-over format.

Her career-defining moment came in the 2018 Women’s Asia Cup where the star bowler struck 7 wickets in six matches and played a central hand in the only major trophy won by the Bangladesh women’s team. Khadija has scalped 85 wickets in her 10 years of cricketing career, resulting in her being the highest-placed bowler for Bangladesh in the ICC bowlers ranking.
