Touted as the future of Pakistan cricket, Nida Dar’s talent was spotted at a young age and became the captain of the Punjab University as a minor.
A wily right-arm off-break bowler, Dar has arguably been Pakistan’s best player over the last decade or so. She has been pivotal to Pakistan’s recent success and is the leading wicket-taker for her team in the shortest format of the game.
Dar made her Pakistan debut in the 2010 Women’s World T20 in West Indies. The youngster was then named in the playing XI against Sri Lanka and was immediately involved in the thick of action, picking up 2 wickets and giving away just 10 runs.
Following impressive performances in the World Cup, the Punjab-born spinner was selected in the Pakistan squad for the 2010 Asian Games in China.
During the 2018 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka, Dar grabbed her maiden fifer and finished the tournament as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 11 dismissals to her name. Her exploits in the Asia Cup earned her a contract from Sydney Thunder for the 2019/20 Women's Big Bash League (WBBL)
In 2020, the crafty off-spinner was named in the Pakistan squad for the 2020 Women’s World T20 held in Australia. In a match against England, she played in her 100th WT20I match.
The backbone of the Pakistan women’s team, Dar has been a revelation for her nation, especially in the shortest form of the game. An energetic player, she has been an inspiration for so many young players back in Pakistan.
