Nigar Sultana

A formidable middle-order batswoman, Nigar Sultana is one of the most experienced batters in the shortest format at just 23 years of age. With over 50 appearances for the Tigresses in T20Is, she is the second-highest run-getter for the Bangladesh women’s team.

She made her international debut in a T20I fixture against Pakistan on September 30th, 2015 and a week later, she featured in her maiden ODI match against the Women in Green. Since her debut, her career has gone from strength to strength, and her maturity level made her one of the most composed batswomen for her country.

Nicknamed ‘Joty’ by her teammates, she was the top scorer in the final of the 2018 Women’s Asia Cup, in which she helped her side to their maiden major title in recent history. However, the most cherished moment of her career came in 2019 against the Maldives in the South Asian Games, which the young Bangladesh squad ultimately went on to win. In this match she hit the highest score in T20s for a Bangladesh woman, striking an incredible 113 not out off just 65 balls which made her an overnight sensation.

Her incredible show in the 2019 South Asian Games earned her a place in the Melbourne Renegades squad for the 2019 Women’s Big Bash League. A fierce striker of the ball, she is the most skilful with the gloves on holding the record for most dismissals in T20Is for her country. Selected in the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, she again topped the chart for the Tigresses with 114 runs in four matches.
