Player Bio

A brilliant top-order batswoman and a veteran of Bangladesh’s squad, Fargana Hoque made her first international appearance ten years ago in 2011 and has been a vital member of the squad since.

Hailing from Ganbandha, cricket has been a large part of her life since her schooling days as she would carry her kit wherever she went. Practising from such a young age certainly faired well for her as she is now the second-highest run-getter for Bangladesh in ODIs with 732 runs in 37 matches.

Hoque made her ODI debut against Ireland on November 26th, 2011 but it didn’t go according to plan as she was dismissed on just 13 runs. Her T20I debut came a year later against the same opponent on August 28th, 2012 and this time she was dropped down the order as she finished the game at 7 not out in a solid victory.

Hoque is known for her calculated batting which has resulted in the most personal milestones for the youngster. She has six ODI half-centuries and three T20I fifty which is the most amongst the Bangladesh women’s team.

In 2019 against the Maldives, Hoque hit the fastest T20 century for her country, smashing 110 unbeaten off just 53 balls to become only the second woman for Bangladesh to reach three figures in the shortest format. She shared in a record-breaking 236-run partnership with Nigar Sultana in that very game to help her side to gold in the South Asian Games.

Hoque is the highest placed batswoman for her country according to ICC T20 rankings and she is also the leading run-getter for the Tigresses with 998 runs in the shortest format of cricket.
