Player Bio

A three-time World Cup winner and four-time England Women's Cricketer of the Year, Katherine Helen Brunt is regarded as the best female bowler in her country. A right-arm fast-bowler by profession, Brunt has a classic action and been a dominant force, over the years.

At the age of 19, Brunt made his international debut in the longest format against New Zealand and later picked for the World Cup 2005. After the ICC event, came the highest moment in the pacer’s life when she took 14 wickets and scored her first Test fifty in two Tests as England clinched their first Ashes series win in 42 years.

Later, she toured the subcontinent to play a vital role in the series against Sri Lanka and Indies. As Brunt’s career progressed, she got the habit of picking up wickets when it mattered the most. She was instrumental in England’s 2009 World T20 title win as well. The pacer was awarded the Player of the Match in the final against the White Ferns as she ended the game with the figures of 3 for 6.

Over the years, Brunt has also been affected by various injuries but she always has come back strongly. The pacer particularly has enjoyed the longest format, her 6 for 69 against Australia, in the 2009 Worcester Test to retain the Ashes, was regarded as the best by a female pacer.

In 2011, the pacer was in her prime during the Quadrangular series. She helped England beat Australia in the final with her astonishing figures of 5 for 18.

By the 2015 Ashes, the fast bowler became a veteran of the game as countless accomplishments and milestones came in her way. Brunt was also part of the 2017 World Cup-winning squad. However, the veteran didn’t scalp too many wickets but the pacer was very economical throughout the tournament.

Brunt has played the game for more than a decade-and-half now. She won the 2014 ICC Women’s Spirit of Cricket Award and has been nominated for the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year twice. With tons of awards and accomplishments, Brunt has been a true legend of the game and served her country with an extraordinary passion.
