Player Bio

Veda Krishnamurthy, a right-handed middle-order batter, has emerged from Karnataka at an age of 18 years. Her journey is worth telling, as a three-year-old, she was enrolled in Karate. Although Veda won two black belts in the sport but hated it, hence, left Karate for Cricket.

Veda’s coach suggested her father to shift to Bangalore for her 13-year-old daughter’s future, and the teenager proved the suggestion right by getting selected for the state team. After impressing many in domestic circles, Veda graduated to the highest level for making her ODI debut against England in 2011. She scored a vital quickfire half-century in her maiden game, which let her make her T20I debut against Australia on the same tour.

As her career progressed, she became one of the finest finishers in the game, an athletic body on the fielder, and a handy leggie as well. Veda’s allround skills awarded her a BBL contract by Hobart Hurricanes in 2017, to become the third Indian to a foreign franchise league.

Veda was also part of the Indian squad which went to the finals of the 2017 World Cup, held in England. She played the innings of her life during the tournament against New Zealand, where she scored 70 runs at a strike rate of 155.55, before getting runout. The finisher was also part of the runners-up side of the 2020 World T20 Down Under.

When on song, Veda can smoke the best of the bowler out of the park with some unbelievable ease. Over the course of her career, she has earned the title of a finisher and has performed successful stunts for India. With the age of Veda’s side, she can finish off an ICC final with her blade to win a World Cup for India.
