Player Bio

The backbone of the South African team, Trisha Chetty is one of South Africa’s most experienced players, with more than 100 ODI caps to her name.

The Durban-born has played cricket for domestic side KwaZulu Natal and impressed everyone with her wicket-keeping skills. As a result, she was drafted into the South African squad for their ODI series against Pakistan in 2007. She could only muster 19 runs but was agile behind the stumps.

The stumper along with former player Shandre Fritz recorded the highest opening stand (170) in the history of women’s T20I cricket against the Netherlands in 2010.

She also holds the record of most dismissals in women’s ODI history by a wicket-keeper.

The Natal-based cricketer was in the Proteas squad for the 2018 Women’s T20 World Cup, but after the start of the tournament, she was ruled out due to an injury and was replaced by Faye Tunnicliffe.

Post-injury, Chetty was back amongst the runs for the Proteas, registering 204 runs at an average of 40.8 for the South Africa Emerging Women’s team.

A stalwart for South African cricket, Chetty has been a consistent performer for her side. A reliable keeper for her national side, Chetty has been nothing short of a revolution when it comes to wicket-keeping.

Her experience is invaluable for this team and young players should learn a thing or two about the art of wicket-keeping from her.
