Bismah Maroof

Bismah Maroof got into the Pakistani side very early, at the age of 15. Since then she has been a regular feature for her team and has shone brightly at the international level. Maroof made her international debut in the 2006 Asia Cup. She was named in the playing XI against arch-rivals India, and she scored a brisk 43 in a losing cause. A compact left-handed player who knows how to anchor the innings, Maroof is also a wily spinner who can change the course of a match at will. 

Three years after her ODI debut, Maroof was included in the Pakistan squad for the T20I series against Ireland. She was part of the side that won a gold medal against Bangladesh at the 2010 Asian Games in China. 

Maroof has played some memorable innings throughout her career, but her knock of 99 against South Africa in March 2015 was amongst her best innings till date. 

Maroof took over the reins of the T20I squad after the 2016 World T20. A year later she was made the ODI skipper as well, and under her captaincy Pakistan swept Sri Lanka 3-0 in the ODI series away from home. 

The talented allrounder was named in the Pakistan squad for the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup, but during  a match against England, she broke her thumb and was ruled out of the tournament. 

A stalwart of Pakistan cricket, Maroof has been the backbone of the Pakistan side for more than a decade now. A great ambassador to this game, Maroof has taken Pakistan cricket to new heights with her shrewd captaincy.
