A dynamic batting all-rounder who is known to have just a single gear when it comes to batting that is scoring, Hayley Matthews is a professional cricketer for West Indies Women’s team. Passionate about sports, Hayley made her debut for the Barbados Women’s team at the tender age of 12.

The Barbadian got her maiden call-up to the West Indies national team at the age of 16 when she was included in the T20I series against the White Ferns and made her debut on September 27th, 2014. A month later the the Bridgetown-based cricketer made her WODI debut against the mighty Aussies on November 11th, 2014 scoring a half-century on her debut. She gave an exemplary performance in her debut series amassing 241 runs in a four-match series.

One of the West Indies cricket’s newest prodigy, Matthews was the top-performer for West Indies in the final of the 2016 World Twenty20 by scoring 66 runs from 45 balls leading the Women in Maroon to their maiden title. 

Representing the Hobart Hurricanes in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Big Bash League, she smashed 51 balls 77 on her debut in the WBBL. For her outstanding performances and the experienced she had gained, Hayley was named as the vice-captain of the West Indies national team in October 2018.

A result-oriented and hardworking individual, Hayley has been the star player for the Women in Maroon for over five years. Cementing her spot in the Hobart Hurricanes squad, she has played over 50 matches amassing 865 runs and 41 wickets in her WBBL career.
