Player Bio

Scott Stephen McKechnie, a Salford-born English cricketer who emigrated to Hong Kong in search of better opportunities, currently plays as a wicketkeeper-batsman for Hong Kong.

Scott featured for England's four county teams- Essex, Durham, Gloucestershire and Kent. However, he never made it past the second XI team, which made him pursue his cricketing career in Hong Kong.

The 31-yer-old made his ODI debut for Hong Kong against Papua New Guinea at the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship, where a crucial 29 gave his side a thrilling win. He then featured in Hong Kong's successful 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier campaign and played in the 2018 Asia Cup but failed against India and Pakistan.

He was named in Hong Kong's squad for the 2019/20 Pentangular series in Oman, where he made his T20I debut for Hong Kong against Oman.

Hong Kong's jersey #45, played some crucial knocks at the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in UAE, including a gritty 44 against Oman, which went in vain as Hong Kong failed to seal a spot for the 2020 Men's T20 World Cup, inducing Scott to announce his retirement in 2020.

However, in July 2022, Hong Kong's premier gloveman returned to Hong Kong's squad for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier B tournament in Zimbabwe, which wasn't much success either. His next assignment will be the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup in UAE.
