Michael Alexander Jones is an English cricketer based out of Ormskirk, United Kingdom. The Scottish cricketer had Ormskirk as his club cricket background. After moving to Durham, his new club is Tynemouth CC. His club cricket background was at Ormskirk and, after his move to Durham, Tynemouth CC. Jones is a right-handed batsman and off-spin bowler.

Before signing a senior academy contract with Durham ahead of the 2018 season, Jones spent time at Lancashire's academy and featured in the county 2nd XI matches for Durham, Derbyshire and Leicestershire in 2017. Jones made his One Day International debut for Scotland against Ireland during 2017–18 in the United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series. In the match, he was Scotland's top scorer with 87 runs in a six-wicket defeat.

Next, the Durham Academy youngster Michael Jones performed in the first team debut for Durham against Derbyshire at Chesterfield in June of that year. Then, in July 2019, Jones was selected to play for the Glasgow Giants.

Jones is a talented top-order batter and currently plays his club cricket at Tynemouth. Jones scored 262 runs from just five games in the 2020 season in the North East Premier League, with a best of 89 against Gateshead Fell. In October, Jones was named as a reserve player in Scotland's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. However, due to an injury to Josh Davey, Jones was added to Scotland's main squad for their last three matches of the tournament.

In April 2022, in the 2022 County Championship, Jones scored his maiden century in first-class cricket with 108 runs against Leicestershire.
