Cricket has been in Damien Ravu’s blood and the sport is everything for the Papua New Guinean cricketer. Ravu is a medium-fast bowler who has been leading PNG’s pace-battery since his debut in 2017.

Cricket runs in the pacer’s family, his father and uncles have played at representative levels and that’s where his love affair began. At the tender age of 10, Ravu started playing for Lae’s Cricket Club, which taught him the significance of discipline and order.

The Morobe-born made Brett Lee his inspiration and followed the Australian’s footpath. The PNG cricketer made his first-class debut in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup, in October 2017. Later that month, he was selected to make his ODI debut against Scotland.

However, Ravu’s breakthrough performance came, two years later, versus Singapore - where he was the chief architect behind PNG’s 43-run victory at Dubai. Since then, the seamer hasn’t dropped a beat, becoming the leader of his nation’s pace-pact.

In August 2021, Ravu was named in Papua New Guinea's squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup. And if the Pundits from Papua New Guinea are right then their lead pacer would set the centre stage on fire.
