Player Bio

Obed McCoy is an upcoming fast-bowler for West Indies. Hailing from the Windward Islands, McCoy is a tall-burly left-arm seamer, whose prowess is best suited for the shorter formats.

In 2016, McCoy was part of the World Cup-winning West Indies under-19 side but didn’t play any game in the tournament. Later in that season, he debuted for the Windward Islands in the domestic Super50 Cup where he scalped six wickets. However, it wasn’t until the inaugural Global T20, in 2018, when he finished as the highest wicket-taker for West Indies B and later was handed a CPL contract by St. Lucia Stars.

Following his success in T20 cricket, the national selectors backed McCoy’s skills and named him for the ODI series against India, in 2018. He made his ODI debut at Vizag and scalped two wickets on debut, while his maiden one was of MS Dhoni. One year later, the southpaw made his T20I debut against England to mark his first man in Sam Billings.

In 2020, the West Indian played for the home team in the Abu Dhabi T10 league, and represented Grenadines Divers in the 2021 edition of Vincy Premier T10 League. He has also been associated with his home side in the CPL and is signed by Multan Sultans to play in the rescheduled leg of the 2021 Pakistan Super League. McCoy

would be willing to perform highly to book his seat for the World T20, later in 2021.
