Bio
One of the most dependable spinners and a useful lower-order batsman, Ashley Nurse is a professional cricketer for West Indies. Nurse announced his arrival in the domestic structure in 2007 when he was just a teenager and gradually progressed into the 'A' side and then earned his maiden call-up from West Indies in 2011.
The Barbados-born made his international debut in 2011 against Pakistan in a T20I but he failed to fix a place for himself in the squad for a prolonged time. He bounced back with vengeance in 2016 as a member of the ODI team and picked up three wickets in the ODI debut against Sri Lanka. Stiff competition from mystery spinners like Sunil Narine and Samuel Badree made the way tough for Nurse in the initial years of his career.
Nurse broke through the playing XI after his debut but injury halted his progress in late 2018. He is yet to make a comeback to the West Indies squad since his injury but has been a regular feature for Barbados in white-ball cricket.
The Barbados-born spinner was a part of his home side Tridents since the inaugural edition of the Caribbean Premier League(CPL) but in 2017, he was drafted into the Knight Riders after Mehedi Hasan left for national duty. A highly competitive cricketer, Nurse has a few prime years on his watch to make a comeback to the national side but faces tough competition from the likes of Hayden Walsh, Akeal Hossain and Kevin Sinclair.
