Player Bio

Waqas Maqsood is a left-arm fast bowler who plays for Pakistan national cricket team.

A relatively late bloomer at the international level, Maqsood rose to prominence in a first class game for WAPDA in 2017. The team played against Khan Research Laboratories and Maqsood bagged his best figures in a first class game, scalping 9 wickets out of the possible 10 in an innings.

He continued his rich vein of form in the 2018 Pakistan Cup, finishing as the leading wicket taker, with 14 scalps in just five games.

He kept on knocking the selectors door and was finally rewarded with a place in the Pakistan squad for the T20I series against the Kiwis in 2018. Maqsood played his only T20I till date in the third game of that series, picking up two wickets and impressing everyone with his ability to swing the ball both ways.

However, post 2018, Maqsood hardly got any game time and was constantly ignored by the selectors.

Pakistan have produced some terrific left-arm pacers in world cricket. Maqsood could have been added to that list if the speedster would have got more opportunities to showcase his skills.
