Player Bio

A tall, well-built seamer, Odean Smith is a professional cricketer for the Caribbean Islands who plays domestic cricket for Trinidad and Tobago. Part of the West Indies u-19 setup, he made his List A debut against Trinidad and Tobago on January 16th, 2015 in the Super50 tournament at the tender age of 18.

Mainly a white-ball cricketer, Smith got his first opportunity in first-class cricket, three years later since his debut in List A.  He made his debut against Jamaica on December 7th, 2017, picking up two wickets in the drawn fixture. Following his impressive performances in the domestic limited-overs format, Smith made his international debut in a T20I fixture against Pakistan on April 2nd, 2018 and went on to be extremely expensive in the series. His lack of consistency saw him sidelined from the national squad and got no further opportunity in the Maroon jersey.

The Jamaican-born seamer was drafted in by Jamaican Tallawahs for the fifth edition of the Caribbean Premier League(CPL). Having played just 13 matches in three seasons for the Tallawahs, he was signed by the Guyana Amazon Warriors prior to the start of the 2020 CPL season. The situation got from bad to worse as he was selected to play in just one game in the 2020 CPL which shattered the youngster’s confidence. Still relatively young, Smith’s would be hopeful of getting more opportunities in the CPL which might bolster his chances of representing the Men in Maroon in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
