Player Bio

An explosive bowling all-rounder, Paul Van-Meekeren is a professional cricketer who plays internationally for the Netherlands and domestically for Somerset in English County Cricket. His energetic fast bowling has continued to improve to a point where he now sits inside the top 50 International T20 bowlers in the World.

A product of the Dutch youth system, Paul worked his way up through the U-13, U-15, and U-19 ranks, before making his official debut for the senior team at the tender age of 20. In 2017, Paul was included in the Netherlands squad for the Inaugural Desert T20 Challenge. Against Hong Kong, he broke the record for the highest score by a number 11 batsman in Twenty20 Internationals and was the only person to score multiple sixes while batting at number 11 in a T20I.

His most polished and consistent performance came when it mattered most for the Netherlands, picking up 15 wickets in the 2020 T20 World Cup qualifiers in the UAE, helping to secure a place in the premier tournament in October 2021.

At age 28, Paul came into the limelight when he was found to work as a food delivery guy for Uber Eats to meet his needs which came as a surprise to his fans. Having completed his contract with Somerset, Paul is now seeking opportunities both in the UK and worldwide, seeking to make the most of his T20 bowling skills and will be a popular addition to any dressing room lucky enough to pick him up in the future.
