Player Bio

Born in Masvingo, Tendai Chisoro is a left-arm orthodox spinner who plays for the Zimbabwe national cricket team.

He started his domestic career with the Centrals and soon became an integral part of their team. Chisoro’s ability to chip in with wickets at crucial junctures made him a special player in the domestic circuit. Eventually, the leg spinner earned his reward with a place in the Zimbabwe national side for the ODI series against Afghanistan in 2015.

Chisoro made an instant impact on his debut, bagging 3/16 to completely rattle the Afghans. Interestingly, Chisoro started as a left-arm medium-pacer in his initial days but eventually switched to orthodox spin bowling. The Masvingo lad played for the U-14’s and U-16’s, before getting a chance to represent his side at the international level.

Two years after his ODI debut, Chisoro got a chance to make a name for himself in the longest form of the game when he was included in the Test playing XI to face West Indies in 2017.

Post-2017, the Masvingo-born has found it difficult to break into the Zimbabwe national setup, but luck was on his side and the spinner was a surprise inclusion in the Zimbabwe Test squad to play against Pakistan in 2021.

A seamer who turned spinner, Chisoro was a bright prospect when he burst onto the scene. But injuries and poor form meant that he never cemented a proper place in the Zimbabwean national side.
