Player Bio

Born in Huddersfield, Safyaan Sharif is a right-arm medium pace bowler who plays for Scotland national team.

Sharif was impressive with Scotland Under-19’s, and as a result was fast tracked by the Scotish selectors. He made his much awaited Scotland debut in 2011 against Netherlands in an ODI match. Sharif announced his arrival in some style, picking up 4 for 27 to completely rattle the Dutch side. He had an impeccable control over his line and length which was the most impressive thing about his debut.

Sharif played a pivotal role in Scotland’s success in the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers. He was at his menacing best, picking up 14 wickets in the tournament to help Scotland qualify for the 2015 ICC World Cup.

During the 2018 World Cup Qualifying game against Zimbabwe, Sharif bagged his maiden five-wicket haul in ODI cricket. He took 5 for 33 runs in 8.4 overs.

A pacer with great seam movement, Sharif has been a consistent performer for his side over the past 10 years. His knack of picking wickets at crucial stages of the game is his biggest asset.
