Player Bio

An aggressive middle-order batsman, Rameez Shahzad is a professional cricketer for the United Arab Emirates who is one of the most successful batsmen in the UAE’s cricketing history. Born in Dubai, Shahzad first represented UAE at the U-15 level and also featured in the U-15 Asia Cup in 2002.

Shahzad first represented UAE senior side in 2005 making his debut in the ICC Intercontinental Cup against Ireland in October. In 2016, the 33-year old batter made his ODI debut against Scotland on August 14th and went on to make his T20I debut in December 2016.

Following the conclusion of the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers, Shahzad was named as the rising star by the International Cricket Council (ICC). However, he has been on the outside looking in the recent past and has not played an ODI since August 2018.

Having lost his pro deal at the end of 2019, Shahzad signed for the Northern Warriors for the fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 league and would be looking to make an impact in franchise cricket to earn a call-back to the national squad.
