Player Bio

Having represented Hong Kong in the U 19 World Cup at a tender age of 15, Mark Chapman has now taken the elevation to the next level having represented New Zealand for the first time in 2018 against England. He is among those rare breeds of cricketers who have scored an ODI century in his ODI debut. He is currently in the elite list of batsmen like Desmond Haynes, Andy Flower, Dennis Amiss, Philip Hughes, and Martin Guptill who has scored a century on their ODI debuts. He achieved that feat against UAE in 2015 when he smashed a sensational 124.

Born in Hong Kong to a Chinese mother and a Kiwi father, Chapman has taken good strides in international cricket in the recent past but is yet to secure his place in the New Zealand limited-overs set up. Chapmanā€™s talent from a pretty early age was never in question but at the age of 27 and has represented New Zealand, he will look to develop himself into an all-round batsman going forward.

Having started off his cricket in Hong Kong who is yet to establish themselves at the international circuit, Chapman never really managed to make a name for himself despite reaching a significant landmark in his debut game. However, it was his consistent performances for Hong Kong which helped them gain promotion from Division three to two in 2011. He was part of the New Zealand ODI squad during the ODI series against India earlier in 2020 and will look to continue to rack up some impressive performances in the near future if given a chance.
