Player Bio

A classical top-order batsman for the dutch national team and the brother of Tom Cooper who now plays Australian domestic cricket, Ben Cooper is a right-handed batsman who currently plays for the VRA cricket club in the Netherlands as a player-coach.

Ben made his List A debut playing for the Netherlands against Warwickshire on August 11, 2013 and within weeks he was selected to represent the senior team and made his ODI debut against Canada in ICC World Cricket League Championship on August 27, 2013. Ben was the top scorer of his team scoring 74 runs on his debut but unfortunately, the match was abandoned.

A limited-overs specialist, Ben made his T20I debut against Afghanistan on November 15, 2013, and hasn’t disappointed since. He was the leading run-getter for the Netherlands in the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers amassing 246 runs in nine matches and helped them qualify for the premier tournament.

Ben was recently included in the T20 series against Nepal in April 2021 but failed to live up to his potential. At the age of 29, he is one of the most experienced members of the limited-overs side, and going into the upcoming T20 World this year in October, he remains a vital cog for the Dutch national team.
