Player Bio

Tendai Chatara is a right-arm medium-pace bowler who represents the Zimbabwe national cricket team.

A lanky fast bowler who is known to extract bounce from the surface, Chatara made his international debut in 2010. He represented Zimbabwe at the Under-19 level before making his senior debut.

Regarded as the most promising talent of Zimbabwe cricket, Chatara was included in the Zimbabwe squad for the T20I series against India. He was included in the playing XI for the 2nd T20I and Chatara scalped a solitary wicket as India won the game convincingly.

Three years later, Chatara made his ODI debut against West Indies and was on the expensive side, conceding 64 runs in just 8 overs.

In his 11th ODI game against Pakistan in 2013, the Chimaniamani-born registered his then best bowling figures of 3 for 48.

2013 proved to be a fruitful year for him as the pacer made his much-awaited Test debut against the Windies.

The seamer was drafted in the Zimbabwe squad for the 2015 World Cup. He played five games in the tournament, scalping 10 wickets and was the pick of the bowlers as Zimbabwe crashed out of the group stage.

After Kyle Jarvis retired from international cricket, Chatara became the strike bowler for Zimbabwe, especially in the shorter formats of the game. โ€˜

Chatara was one of the finds of Zimbabwe cricket in the late 2000s. He has justified the faith of the selectors by being one of the potent forces in the Zimbabwean pace attack for nearly a decade.
