Player Bio

Mohammad Azab is yet another exciting fast-bowling sensation emerging from Pakistan. His journey to the Pakistan Super League and Lahore Qalandars is nothing short of a fairy tale.

Hailing from Chishtian, a city in the Bahawalnagar district of Punjab, Azab comes from a humble background. His family urged him to prioritize education over cricket, but his heart was set on the game.

Like countless young dreamers, he spent his childhood playing cricket in schoolyards and the streets, but unlike most, he refused to let go of his ambition.

The turning point came in 2018 when he started bowling with a hard ball during his college days. His natural talent quickly caught the attention of many, earning him a sports quota seat at his university. Determined to break into professional cricket, he participated in the trials for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) team. While he passed the trials, he narrowly missed out on a place in regional first-class cricket.

However, fate had bigger plans. When the Lahore Qalandars announced open trials, Azab seized the opportunity with both hands. It took just two deliveries for him to grab the attention of cricketing stars like Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. They were particularly impressed by his precision, control, and composure with the ball—rare qualities in a young fast bowler.

Recognizing his potential, Lahore Qalandars swiftly inducted him into their prestigious Player Development Program (PDP), a platform that has transformed the careers of many aspiring cricketers, including Haris Rauf. Azab’s outstanding performances in the PDP camp earned him a well-deserved spot in the Lahore Qalandars squad for PSL 2025.

Currently representing HEC in the domestic circuit, Azab has already made a strong impact, claiming 42 wickets in just 11 first-class games. With an impressive start to his career, he now looks up to his role model, Shaheen Shah Afridi, hoping to follow in his footsteps while learning from some of the best in the game.

With unwavering determination and immense potential, Muhammad Azab is a name to watch out for in Pakistan cricket’s future.
