Player Bio

Known for his aggressive mindset, Sabbir Rahman is a middle-order batter, who plays for Bangladesh.

At an age of 16, the Rajshahi-born made his First-Class debut for the Rajshahi division.

A couple of years later, he emerged as the joint-highest scorer for Bangladesh with 207 runs in six innings of the 2010 edition of the U-19 World Cup.

Later in the same year, the talented batter scored an unbeaten 33 off 18 balls to help Tigers secure a gold medal in the Asian Games.

Rahman made his international debut in a T20I fixture against Sri Lanka and was the top-scorer for the team.

Soon, the swashbuckling batter hit 44 off 25 in his debut ODI game against Zimbabwe and gained the crowd’s attention. The 2015 edition of ODI World Cup witnessed him hitting 182 runs in six innings, helping Bangladesh to reach the quarter-finals.

The rich vein of form was a testimony to his call-up in the purest format as well in 2016 against England, wherein he remained unbeaten on 64 in the second innings.

In the 2016 edition of Asia Cup, the 30-year-old was the leading run-getter with 176 runs in five innings at an average of 44, and helped the Tigers to emerge as a runner-up.

The 2017-18 period saw Rahman facing multiple months of fans abusing fans on social media and physically assaulting them on the ground.

The elegant batter brought his maiden ODI century against New Zealand in February 2019. However, the low string of scores saw him getting dropped from the national team.

Rahman made his international comeback in the Asia Cup 2022 by hitting 515 runs in 14 innings at an average of 39.61 in the 2022 Dhaka Premier League.
