Player Bio

Yamin Ahmadzai is a right-arm medium pacer who belongs to the 'Mohammad Asif' fan club. Like his idol, Ahmadzai swings the ball late and teases the opposition batters by pitching it in the right areas. A lanky fast-bowler, hailing Afghanistan's Laghman Province, Ahmadzai is known for his smooth action and pinpoint accuracy. Ahmadzai made an early break into the international arena during the 2015 season and since then, has emerged as one of his country’s prime fast bowlers.

The pacer’s cricketing journey during the 2010 U-19 World Cup, held in New Zealand. He was also part of the squad for the 2011 U-19 World Cup Qualifier and helped his nation qualify for the 2012 event.

Ahmadzai went to Pakistan’s domestic circuit and made his T20 debut in the 2011 season where he played the Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cup. The pacer made his first-class debut against Kenya during the ICC Intercontinental Cup in 2013, while his maiden List-A debut came earlier that year.

After a couple of successful seasons in Pakistan, the pacer donned the Afghanistani colours in an ODI against Zimbabwe at Sharjah and made his T20I debut against Oman. A year later, Ahmadzai was picked by Habib Bank Limited to play in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

In 2018, the Afghan cricketer made his Test debut during the historic Test against India. Since then, he has been a regular in the longest format of the game. The pacer impressed many pundits when he took six wickets in his second game against Ireland, with some accurate lines and lengths.

Ahmadzai’s pinpoint accuracy makes him an integral part of Afghanistan’s team in the Test format. Though a bowler with his calibre is good enough to feature in the limited-overs as well.
