Player Bio

Javed Ahmadi is a top-order batsman hailing from Afghanistan. He possesses a rock-solid technique with an off-side dominant play and has an exact replica of Michal Vaughan’s cover drive, although he idolizes Michael Clarke.

Ahmadi is a byproduct of the Junior World Cup and two U-19 World Cups of 2010 and 2012. Although, he graduated to wear the senior Afghanistan colours post the 2010 event. The right-hander made his ODI debut against Scotland in June.

During the 2012 event, he led his country in the plate final against Sri Lanka in Brisbane. Just hours after the final, he rushed to Sharjah to make an ODI against Australia. In 2012, he made his maiden T20I appearance against the Netherlands but didn’t get the opportunity to bat on his T20I debut. He has flourished in the shortest format but Ahmadi has a backbone of Afghanistan in the 50-over format and plays a vital role as an anchor.

The dasher made his List-A debut against Kenya in 2010 during the ICC Intercontinental Cup and scored a half-century. From there he gathered a ton of 4-day experience before making his Test debut.

During the preparation for the 2015 World Cup, he scored consecutive half-centuries against Scotland and Ireland to gain his spot for the ICC event. Ahmadi played six games during the World Cup and even scored a 51 against Ireland in the tournament.

Ahmadi played his first Test game during the historic Test against India, in 2018, at Bangalore. He scored a total of 101 runs during the only Test match versus West Indies in 2019. Over the years, Ahmadi has become one of the most integral batsmen present in the Afghanistan team. His technique has cemented his fixed berth in the 50-over format and helped Afghanistan flourish over the last decade or so.
